by Martina Dei Cas – After last year’s success, Trento is once again the capital of the sustainable economy with Green Week, the three-day meeting on sustainability promoted by VeneziePost, University of Trento, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Fondazione Edmund Mach, Muse and Trentino Sviluppo. The main theme of the event, to be held March 3-5, will be “Sustainable living, sustainable living.” “Occasions like this are fundamental,” explains Rector Paolo Collini, “because they allow research institutions to present their activities to the public. And with a view to raising awareness, the Mach foundation is offering a series of talks on the future of agriculture. “We will analyze migrations due to climate change,” says Annapaola Rizzoli, manager of the foundation’s research center, “as well as the invasion of our crops by alien species, such as the fruit fly, the evolution of smart species, which know how to mutate to resist change, and the revision of urban planning in cities. And it is precisely “sustainable living” that will be discussed on March 3 at 11 a.m. in Sociology with visionary architect Mario Cucinella. Fabrizio Spada, director of the regional representation in Milan of the European Commission, will be present. In the evening, appointment at Muse with writer Francesco Maino for a reflection on “The Northeast and the Forgotten Landscape.” On March 4 at 11:30 a.m. at Palazzo Geremia, sociologist Aldo Bonomi will talk about how the green economy can contribute to social regeneration. And highly topical issues will also be addressed by oilman Davide Tabarelli, who at 11:30 a.m. in Sociology will reason about the future of oil, and Rama Gheerawo, head of redevelopment of the London Underground, who at 4:30 p.m. will give a lecture on inclusive design. Eliana Liotta will speak, with a pilot project to introduce smart food in company cafeterias, and journalist Federico Rampini with a reflection on Trump. Also on March 4 starting at 9 a.m. at Sociology Trentino Sviluppo will offer an in-depth look at the Bikeconomy, which President Flavio Tosi calls “a return to the future, because the bicycle, in addition to being 200 years old in 2017, is a means that does not pollute, is good for health and generates tourism.” Big closing on March 5 at Muse, with a guided family trail on how to avoid the sixth extinction, that of the human race. During Green Week it will be possible to participate in a tour of the sustainability factories, or 18 companies in the Triveneto region that adopt processes or make eco-sustainable products, including the Mezzolombardo hospital, a leader in earthquake-proofing. All events are free, but registration is required at stage.greenweekfestival.it.
